The City of Havre Police Department has a long-standing tradition of excellence in providing law enforcement services to the citizens of Havre.

Since 1902, when Art White was appointed the first Chief of Police until present time, the many fine officers of the Police Department continue to provide effective law enforcement services through the prevention and detection of criminal activity.

Our Mission

The mission of the Havre Police Department is to serve the people of the City of Havre and State of Montana by preserving life and safeguarding property.  Striving to deter and prevent criminal activity and aggressively enforcing the criminal law while treating all people with dignity, equality and respect will accomplish this.

The Havre Police Department has 18 sworn officers and is the 7th largest municipal police department in the State of Montana.  Our Police Department has been very progressive in the past ten years and has incorporated the popular philosophy of community policing throughout the Department.  In the fall of 1999, the first Computer Aided Dispatch and Records Management System went on line connecting the Police Department and the Hill County Sheriff’s Department with one integrated computer system.

Havre is also home to the Hill County Sheriff’s Department, Montana Highway Patrol, United States Border Patrol Sector Headquarters, Federal Bureau of Investigation, and the Tri-Agency Drug Task Force.
